Our Story

When you hear the word Destiny, what comes to mind? Purpose, Future, and Hope? Yeah, these are the attributes we think too. Destiny Church is a non-denominational church made up of people who have a past but who also have a future. Destiny began in the heart of Jonathan in the spring of 2005. Sensing that God wanted to show His people they have a future and a hope, Jonathan began to pray and come to grips with the idea of God wanting him to establish a different kind of church, one that would use creative strategies to bring people to Him.

In 2006 Jonathan approached his pastor, Lawrence Powell, Senior Pastor of Agape Family Worship Center (Rahway, NJ) to communicate what God had spoken to him. They both began to pray, plan and prepare for this new thing God was doing. Longing to reach the residents of South Jersey and Pennsylvania, God instructed him to start a church in Burlington Township.

On Saturday, February 10, 2007, nine adults and three children along with Jonathan, his wife, Kamili, and their three children met to share the news of what God was going to do. Pastor Larry and Vanessa Powell confirmed the call on Jonathan and Kamiliâs life and that night Destiny began.
